Three laps of 8 sections, the start and finish will be at the Ralieghs Cross Inn. Each lap will be approx 3 - 5 miles.

An evening social get together has been arranged for all competitors & supporters in the function suite of the Ralieghs Cross Inn, we have invited all the landowners & observers who are supporting this years event. There will also be a carvery available at a reduced cost depending on numbers. The accommodation at the Ralieghs Cross is full, however there is camping in the field behind the pub available.

For the second day there will be the traditional route of approx. 65 miles in the Brendon Hills and Exmoor and will include some public highway.  Please ensure that you bring enough fuel for the two days as there is not a fuel station close to the course. The Brass Monkeys enduro returns!

Many South West riders will remember riding in the Brass Monkeys enduro at Smeatharpe aerodrome. The exposed start area and often sub zero conditions meant that the event was a real test of man and machine.

Well after a break of 10 years the Brass Monkeys is back!

The Broadhembury and Xmoor motor clubs have teamed up to run this new event on the 14th February 2010 to give the South West riders another true time card enduro.

The event will be based in Huntsham, Devon and will be a mixture of woodland, forestry and fields. Due to a lot of hard work by Simon Thomas the hope is for a minimum lap of around 22 miles but there will some short sections of roadwork so bikes must be road legal!

The special test will be a mix of forestry and MX type going in a stubble field. This section will also be a round of the 2010 South West enduro championship.

New for this year; we’ve included a class for pre 1999 bikes i.e. ones which were around (or even took part in) the last Brass Monkeys. We want to see the bikes you thought you could keep hidden in the shed!

Regs will be available shortly. If you want to get in early, sending a S.A.E. to;
Ian Musgrove, Ians Cycle Centre. 3a Roman Rd, Taunton, Som TA21 0RP
will get you a set as soon as they are available.

Question: Will this website ever get updated again ???

Answer: Yes, I have great plans for it, but it will have to wait until after Christmas 2009.

Question: Why?

Answer: Well sadly, when you get very busy certain things just have to go on hold and in this case it as I was running this website just for fun, it had to go first :o(

Question: And have you really been that busy?

Answer: Yes, since the recession started, I have been busier than I have ever been. To busy - much to busy to have fun in fact, and that's not where I really want to be. - As I am still not managing to get out on my bike.

Mind you, that's not entirely true, as I did manage to get away for a weeks trail riding holiday at the end of summer with a few good buddies who live locally.

See below -

...and am I serious? - Of course. Why would I want to give up fun like this?

Have a good Christmas everyone, hope to see you in the new year.

Adrian (aka - Biker)

WHAT AM I ?

I like wooded cover and moorland as my favoured habitat
I am flighty and scuttle away when startled in the wild
Seldom seen in urban areas and followed by my tracks
A normally friendly creature with a waterproof coat
A master in the art of camouflage
Capable of a good turn of speed I graze in groups of three to five
Can rear up and turn on a sixpence when cornered
Found all over the UK at variable times of the year
Gentle and can occasionally be domesticated
Can be trusted around children and pets
But considered vermin and hunted to near extinction by the masses.

What am I ?

...I am a trail rider.
