This is why I think big
lap Enduro's are the most awesome sport: The riders quite frequently cover 150 miles plus a day and have to
be able to deal with whatever type of going is thrown at them.

Whether riding a section of
Supercross track, a ridiculously frightening Trials section, MX track,
tough woods, bogs, streams, quarries or just wide open gnarly countryside. Enduro
riders have to know when to back off and when to get on the gas fast.
The circuit at major events is often in one big single lap and at the
most two. So you ride it 'blind', as you don't get the chance to
'learn the track', and this is often at speeds approaching a 100mph. So
when you see these guys (and girls) cool it down to walking pace here
and there, you bet your boots there's a very good reason for it!
And what in my mind
separates the top riders in this sport from any other: When it all goes wrong - as at times it always will, these guys
don't complain, play up to the cameras, or whinge. They just perform a
quick mental check, to see if they are still alive and that all body
parts seem to still be attached. Then jump straight back on the bike
and hit the gas hard... the top guys are just unbelievable. - The
toughest sportsmen in the world.
