British Masters MX - 2007 - Rnd 5.

British Masters MX - Round 5
Foxhills

Mark Hucklebridge, Danny Smyth and David Campbell
'formation flying in the Pro Open class'.

Report & Photos: J.P.Oconnell.

After it's cancellation in July, Foxhills became the venue that would see the championships decided. It would also see the likes of Mark Jones and Shaun Simpson joining the boys in the Pro Open, as well as the return of reigning champ Mark Hucklebridge.

Jamie Law

After the initial nightmare of actually getting to the circuit (the Swindon half marathon was taking place, so nearly all the roads to the venue were closed!) things were looking good. The weather was fine and a full days racing was scheduled, including, Pro 125, Small Wheel 85, Pro Open, Amateur 125, Amateur Open, Big Wheel 85 and Youth 125.

Lewis King Leads the Pack-Pro 125cc

Going in to the Pro Open Brad Anderson held a 69 point lead over Danny Smyth, so as long as Brad could keep it on 2 wheels and keep Smyth in sight the title would be his.

Air Time!

Having won 7 of the 8 previous rounds the smart money would have been on Anderson. Apparently nobody had told Wulfsport Kawasaki's Mark Jones, who was on fire and claimed a maximum 100 points with both race wins. Anderson did what he had to and placed a fine pair of seconds over Smyth who finished 2nd and 4th.

As far as the championship was concerned it was Ashley Greedy who took the honours ahead of Lewis Gregory and Alex Butler.
