Dirt Bike Business Spotlight

'Ripping Motos Open New Exeter Shop'

Ripping Motos run by Symon Folland and Mike Clift have taken a bold move this year and opened a new shop at Cofton Road, on Marsh Barton Trading Estate, Exeter.

Ripping Motos new Exeter retail shop at Crofton Road Marsh Barton..

Originally started by Chris Berry, Symon took over the business a few years back and ran it alongside 'Fusion Sports' which specialises in hard core mountain bikes and trick race equipment.

Talon wheels, sprockets and hubs are kept in stock.

When Mike Clift came on board it provided the opportunity to expand from mail order and trade supplies, into a retail shop for the dirt bike racing community.

An expanding range of accessories are kept in stock.

Symon has a long history in off road racing, progressing up through the ranks of Moto-X until he raced at national level. Then taking a break and venturing into the downhill mountain bike scene - where he soon became a National champion. So he has a wide knowledge of what makes bikes go and become a winner.

Symon ready to offer a customer helpful advice.

In the last few years Symon has come back to racing dirt bikes, but as he stated "This time it's just for fun. I have raced seriously all my life and of course I always try and do well. But my priority this time is to really enjoy myself. After all, that's what dirt bike riding is all about."

FRO Systems casual wear.

I am sure keeping himself in one piece to look after his family responsibilities and business also has something to do with it!

More FRO Systems casual wear.

Sadly Mike was out of the shop when I paid my recent visit to do the feature, so I didn't get to take a picture. But I know he started out many years ago riding in the Pre65 Trials scene and then moved to Enduro's and Hare & Hounds about 4 years back. He is certainly well enthusiastic about the current dirt bike scene and has spent this winter training at Geraint Jones enduro school with a few top local riders.

Ripping also have second hand dirt bikes.

Ripping Motos have always traded in specialised race equipment, but moving into their new shop at Christmas has allowed them to take on board the dealership from many more parts and accessory suppliers.

To that end they now supply and keep in stock Talon Wheels, Sprockets and Hubs. Alpine Stars boots and riding kit. Fro Systems casual wear and very-very trick race bike accessories. The full range of Morris Lubricants oils and greases. Oakley and Smith goggles, Apico, 909, Renthal, MSR, Hebo and many more. Including a small range of second hand bikes and new Gas Gas motorcycles.

A new Gas Gas awaiting collection.

Although there is a good range in the shop, currently Ripping are still quietly building up stock as room permits. The new premises are still in the throws of being completed, and shortly there will be a new floor going in upstairs, which will carry accessories and an office.

Morris, Oakley, Scott, Hebo and much more.
